I think what might be making you so sick, is envy.

You suggest, in the case of wages, that you have trouble understanding how such disparities can be allowed to persist. Then later claim to be fiercely independent. I find these two statements to contradict. If something isn’t allowed, then there must be a controlling authority (as well as punishment if not followed), but if you are so independent then I can only assume you would abhor some comity deciding what you should paint or charge.

Not only are you not concerned for the trouble your “friend’ claims to be in his blog. You seem very condescending towards your “friends” profession and I suppose mine. You say, “The man is literally selling data; not prints, not hand-crafted originals, but simple IP. ”

You really should read Matthew 20. I think you will find two things. One: it is the right of the employer pay what he chooses. Two: what he chooses to pay someone else is not your concern.

Also Philippians 4 comes to mind.
12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

PS I have paid $2,800 for a single photo. I am pretty well versed in what photographers charge, your friend is less than the norm.
