i’m a sick boy

I feel like I'm sick with something totally different, like I'm two or three or maybe four days into a different illness altogether. Actually, this is the third distinct (maybe fourth, if two were very similar) type of cough I've been experiencing over the last week and a half. And my throat has been SO sore all day today (and still). Like I'm into the part of a throat infection where my own body's immune system is systematically destroying thousands or millions of my throat cells to try to stop the spread of the virus they carry. Except with a relatively thick output from the nose and a light, unproductive cough that doesn't burn and doesn't seem deep, but hurts bad because of the throat pain it exacerbates. And here's the oddest symptom I've had (that I can recall right now) since I started having symptoms a week and a half ago: My backside is sore. From right around the sit bones, down the backs of my legs to about the knees, like I was working out just the backs of my thighs or like I fell hard into a seat a couple days ago and the bruising is beginning to heal... except there's no apparent bruising, and I don't remember falling or working out. So. Weird. Weirder than the rash, which is now invisible, but which left a bit of a rough patch where it was worst... nothing major, should fade with time. No real fever. About 90 degrees right now. Oh, and lethargy. I've got that in spades. I"m off to bed now. Only been home half an hour or so, but I certainly shouldn't stay up any later than I have to.

Did I mention that I woke up this morning at like, 3:30AM and couldn't get back to sleep until a bit after 5AM? Yeah. Dumb.

Amanda Update:

my throat hurts

I think I talked too much today/tonight. My throat is much more sore/hoarse right now than it was yesterday, or when I woke up today. Also, I had a migraine today, and I think something in some Cold Stone Creamery ice cream my sister bought me for lunch today set it off. Stupid ice cream. Not the cold, no, brain freeze I can tell from migraines. This was a full-on ocular migraine.

i’m not dead yet

still have an intermittent cough. survived the NIN concert - took my sister who doesn't like NIN or industrial music or anything that was going on at the concert - but had a reasonably good time myself. I wrote a few words in a paper journal about the experience, I may adapt and re-post them here later - they're not exactly about the concert, more about being totally alone in the world. I used 26 hours of PTO last week being sick, and by now my department is totally overflowing with a backlog of work. Plus one of the regular employees is out on vacation this week. I have to work "early" tomorrow, because the company isn't open as late as normal for the holiday, so I'm going to bed post-haste, so I can get up at, like, 6AM. It'll probably take me a couple of weeks to get the department caught up, and then I'll continue to not get any recognition for working harder than anyone they've ever had working there, because I'm apparently invisible.

Did you know that things cost money? It's beginning to be a hassle.

NIN concert Saturday - anyone wanna go?

So far I have heard zero interest from anyone I know regarding attending the Nine Inch Nails concert with me this Saturday night.

I have two tickets.

Anyone want to go?

Please?

It looks like tickets may still be intermittently on sale, if you want to bring a friend.

living dying

fever's down. headache's basically gone. throat only hurts when I cough. sinus/nose productivity is only about 10-15% above normal output. coughing is intermittent and almost entirely unproductive, though still burning. breathing feels normal, though when I'm laying down I can sometimes hear fluid in my lungs, but I think it's all at the top, stuff that drained from my nose. lots of appetite. the rash (did I mention the rash that began with a constellation of tiny, tiny red dots in my left elbow?) spread further, now up and down about 9 inches on the left arm, down my entire inside right forearm, up the right bicep on the body side, and when I woke up this morning and showered, I found some on the backs of my knees.

But I'm lethargic, light-headed, and having trouble concentrating, so, while I had to go to work today because of the attendance policy combined with my lack of medical insurance (if you're out of work for three consecutive days, they don't let you back without a doctor's note releasing you back to work), I didn't get a whole lot done. There's a type of work only I do, so I did all of that that was there, and I tried to keep working, but I kept feeling like I was going to pass out... like I feel now... so I went to request the rest of the day off, and just seeing me, my bosses scooted to the furthest corner of their office and covered their faces and shoo'd me away home. I think it was the rash. Oh, and one of them has a wedding in a couple of weeks she doesn't want to be deathly ill for. Anyway. Unless I feel awesome tomorrow morning, I don't work until Monday, so I should have time to heal.

I'll go make a little post about NIN, then go sleep.
